Two to Ten Times Lower in Cost
Oracle Secure Backup features an innovative low-cost licensing model based solely on the number of physical tape drives, with the price per drive comparable to competitors' products. And it includes an unlimited number of clients for no charge – making the license cost of Oracle Secure Backup two to 10 times lower than other products. Oracle's pricing model also removes the need to over-license client modules to allow for future growth, helping to further reduce total costs.
Oracle Secure Backup is generally available today (for Oracle9i Database and higher) and is licensed at $3,000 per physical tape drive. In addition, Oracle offers an express edition of Oracle Secure Backup, which is free for systems with a single tape drive.

Tamper–Proof Security
Unlike other backup products, Oracle Secure Backup encrypts the data before it ever leaves the database. Data in transit and on tape is kept secure, as the keys required for decrypting the data are known only to the source database. This helps ensure that backup tapes that are lost or stolen cannot be read or tampered with by a third party.
Additionally, the product features certificate-based authentication of all host systems participating in a backup or restore to help prevent outside parties from impersonating an authorized host.
