这个会已经引起了很多人的注意。去年UIUC的Kevin chang来清华时，就跟我推荐过这个会议。应该会成为一个好会（估计将来至少和CIKM差不多吧）。搞Web挖掘的又多了一个发表论文的好去处。以下是来自其主页的介绍：

WSDM (pronounced "wisdom") is a brand new ACM conference  intended to be complementary to the World Wide Web Conference tracks in search and data mining.  The pace of innovation in these areas has reached a level that requires more than one premier annual venue. WSDM invites original, high quality submissions related to search and data mining on the Web, with an emphasis on practical but principled novel models, algorithm design and analysis, economics implications, and in-depth experimental analysis of accuracy and performance. The goal is to make WSDM a focused meeting with a single research paper session through 2-3 days. 一个会刚开始牛不牛看他的steering member就知道了。其实第一届已经挺难了，16% 录取率。

这 个steering member中印度人不少：Rakesh Agrawal、Soumen Chakrabarti、Rajeev Motwani、Prabhakar Raghavan等等，估计是他们蹿到起来的。不过好像这次被录用的论文的作者中有不少华人，像Bing Liu, Qiang Yang等。

我 说的是应该至少和CIKM（是一个不错的ACM会议）差不多，不排出将来成为一流会议。WSDM的问题是其面向领域（search and data mining on Web）有点窄，当然会办的比较精。另外，你的超一流会议是如何定义的？举几个例子，WWW算不算？SIGIR算不算（如果SIGIR算超一流或一流的 话，说CIKM为二流不算过分吧）？

你说的都不算错，但是这种问题的答案本来就是见仁见智，我完全没有兴趣和你争论这些。
过于执着只能落了下乘。

会议的档次主要取决于其对整个学术界和业界的影响，高档次工作的比例。
CIKM在这几点上都乏善可陈。WWW和SIGIR上有很多不错的工作，不过鱼龙混杂的情况非常严重。WSDM这种top down的模式会好很多。

另外，为Web而Web的research不管是从实用的角度还是从长远来说都不一定是最好的research，这一行的很多东西门槛过低。从历史和未来的角度看，machine leanring的影响要大的多
