Computing Laboratory and the Oxford e-Research Centre in association with
St Cross College

UNIVERSITY LECTURERSHIP IN INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Applications are invited for a University Lecturership in Information
Systems. The successful candidate will also be appointed to a 数据挖掘研究院
non-stipendiary and non-tutorial Fellowship at St Cross College. The
University salary will be on a scale up to £51,095 per annum.

The lecturer will be a member of the Computing Laboratory and is expected
to be at the same time affiliated with the Oxford e-Research Centre (OeRC).
The OeRC is a new centre created as part of the Mathematical, Physical and
Life Sciences division, but engaging researchers from across the
University. It builds on the Oxford e-Science Centre and the successful
portfolio of industrial and academic e-Science projects. The centre will
bring together researchers across discipline domains, providing both a
focus on the use of new technologies in research methodologies and
informing the research agenda for new technologies and computer science
research.

The appointee will be expected to have a strong research and project record
in database technology and Web information systems and will be required to


do first class research in these areas at Oxford. Moreover, the applicant
should be willing and able to attract and carry out funded projects that
innovatively apply advanced database methods, Web data extraction
technology, and semantic Web techniques to relevant problems in e-Research,
in institutional repositories, library information systems or in other
areas of the Humanities or Social Sciences.

The appointee will also be expected to have the ability to teach
effectively over a wide range of topics in the Computer Science syllabus at
Oxford, not exclusively in the area of his or her research expertise The
